Enter into a world of fabulous vintage fashion. The Take 2 Markets, held periodically throughout the year, opened its doors at Northcote Town Hall on Sunday 26th August. These markets present the opportunity to purchase anything from premium vintage fashion items to pre-loved pieces their owners no longer see themselves wearing.
Upon entering the market, the overwhelming display of clothing hung rack after rack ignited excitement in even the most tranquil of fashion fanatics. With no space left bare, women and men alike gravitated to stalls with the universal shopper’s ambition of obtaining a bargain. Luckily for them, the clothing and accessories on offer catered to different budgets, ranging from an adorable Gucci bag to a rack exclaiming that three Trenery items were just twenty-dollars. As if this wasn’t enough, there were steals such as a seven-dollar ruched Witchery Skirt.
The versatile market offers other things for those looking for something a little more unique. A beautiful vintage fur shoulder wrap dating back to the 1930’s went for three hundred dollars, an elegant and exquisite addition to any closet. Fur, which seemed to be an inherent trend within the market, was on display in a variety of styles and colours throughout.
One of the most exciting aspects of the Take 2 Market is not just being immersed in such a luscious variety of fashion, but also the friendly nature of everyone in attendance. Conversations were easily struck up with sellers, such as the story behind their wares, and a few passing tips and tricks exchanged between buyers about particular items or deals. The entire event was a relaxing and fun way to spend a day of guilt free shopping; ideal to shaping your personal style and enhancing your wardrobe, without leaving you penniless.
